Thing #7

Brotherly love! by kmesser7
Brotherly love!, a photo by kmesser7 on Flickr.

Whew!  Wish I had read the instructions closer!  It was much easier once I realized I had to connect my Flickr account to my Blogger account.  Again, if I had read the instructions....anyway, I found it quite easy to use Flickr in general.  This was my first experience with a photo hosting service and even from my phone it was quite simple to upload images.  I really like the ability to sort and place my pictures in groups.  I have already started to transfer all my pictures from my phone and my computer to this site!  I have lost all my photos one too many times from a computer crash or a phone failure.  I can see using Flickr privately for pictures in my classroom, maybe to print newsletters or maybe even calendars for a class fundraiser.  I was a bit worried about the pictures of my kids being public so I will definitely keep them private.  I guess I am still very overprotective when it comes to my family and the internet.  I would never forgive myself if something was to happen to them because of my carelessness on the internet.  I'm just old fashioned like that.

  1. I agree with your statement about your children's pictures on the internet. I am not a mother, however, I hope to be one in a few years. I can definitely understand where you are coming from. Luckily, the internet is partially private as far as who can see your pictures and what not. However, people always say that once its on the internet it never goes away and anyone can see it with access codes and what not. So,its good to be careful about what you put on the internet of your precious babies! There's alot of creepers on the internet!

  2. Sometimes my husband tells me I'm an alarmist, but I would much rather be cautious and my kids be safe than to regret not being cautious enough after something bad has happened! I did start to follow another Blog recently though, it's called free range children and it encourages parents to give their kids more freedom. Here is the web address. I like what she says, but there are regional difficulties with some of the things she suggests. Like there are no sidewalks in the country where we live, so the kids can take a walk but the only place they are going to get is a horse farm on one end of the road and a cow pasture on the other. http://freerangekids.wordpress.com/ If you haven't seen the new 9/11 movie yet, it kind of promotes the same thing. Allowing a child to have some freedom to move around his world, of course there are many other plot lines as well and I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to everyone! Take tissues though! i cried through the entire movie! (And I am not a cry-er) Thanks for stopping by! I am sure you will be a great mom when it happens!
